We were sent the smART Sketcher Projects to review – all opinions are our own and genuine. That the cable was a bit longer – it’s a very odd length that doesn’t seem quite long enough for anything but a sideboard. How it can also be used to support handwriting and letter formation – we’re going to try this with the boys when they’ve gotten over the initial MUST DRAW EVERYTHING phase. This has made the boys so proud of their creations of each other! That you can take pictures of each other and have them turned into drawings to trace. Jens is very strict about making sure things are lined up properly. That the little feet at the front of the projector keep the paper in place. It’s easy to cycle through the different images with the big buttons on the front head part of the projector until you’ve found what you want to draw! That it can be battery operated – which means you can take it anywhere to use, even outdoors which Jens loves to do. I volunteer for reviews and then am terrified when something complicated looking comes along, but this was amazingly easy to get started with despite my fears! That the machine is so easy to set up and use. The app also contains software for turning photographs into traceable images too, which the boys loved. I don’t think that they used it, but it was set up perfectly well anyhow.Īlongside the smART Sketcher Projector is a memory card which contains images ready for projection, or you can download some using the app. There’s apparently an app to download, which will take you through how to set everything up, step by step. I left it to the boys to unbox as anything that has a plug instantly freaks me out, as it surely must be complicated.įive minutes later, Jens had set it up and plugged it in and left me feeling sheepish. We have the smART Sketcher Projector here – and this weekend we took it to Uncle Garth’s and Aunt Ginny’s, the very-super-talented animators behind Persistent Peril, to see what they thought too. This week we’ve been sent the smART Sketcher Projector – a toy which has given him huge confidence and left him with a brother-filled queue requesting different characters for them to colour in.Ĭlick here for our Toy Review Catalogue to read our reviews before you buy! His memory box is stuffed with his creations and illustrations but at times he gets frustrated when a sketch doesn’t turn out the way he hoped – or if one of his brothers doesn’t recognise who he’s drawing instantly. Since he could hold a pencil, Jens has loved to draw. One theory is that chewing gum reduces stress and anxiety, which in turn allows the individual to focus better. There is some evidence to suggest that chewing gum can help improve focus and memory. Brands that are the best are Pür, XyloBurst, Xylitol, Peppersmith, Glee Gum, and Orbit. Choose a gum containing xylitol, as it reduces the bacteria that cause cavities and plaque. If you’re going to chew gum, make sure it’s gum that is sugar-free. This can give a person a chiseled jawline, which can be a desirable look. He famously proclaimed that TV was “nothing more than chewing gum for the eyeballs.” While this may have been a bit of an exaggeration, it’s clear that Wright wasn’t a fan of the new medium.Ĭhewing gum can help to stimulate muscle growth in the jaw, leading to a larger and squarer jawline. He was also a bit of a curmudgeon when it came to new technology, particularly television. Who said TV is chewing gum for the eyes?įrank Lloyd Wright was an iconic American architect who is best known for his unique and creative style. It’s a great example of how sometimes the best lines are the ones that are improvised. He improvised the line while filming, and it perfectly encapsulates the attitude of the character. This is one of the most iconic movie quotes of all time, and it’s all thanks to Roddy Piper. On the other hand, if you have a brick brain, you are more likely to be set in your ways and less willing to change. You understand that making mistakes is part of the learning process. If you have a bubble gum brain, you are more likely to be open minded and willing to try new things. There is no right or wrong answer to this question, it is simply a matter of perspective. What does it mean bubble gum for the brain? So, while he may have been a bit uncoordinated, he was certainly no dummy. He served in the House of Representatives for 25 years and was the Minority Leader for eight of those years. He was also a very successful politician. He graduated from Yale Law School and served in the Navy during World War II. However, to say that he was so dumb that he couldn’t walk and chew gum at the same time is a bit of an exaggeration. He was famously clumsy and had a hard time keeping his footing. There is no denying that Gerald Ford was a bit of a klutz. The lyrics are simple and easy to remember, making it a perfect choice for young children. This popular nursery rhyme is often sung as a game, with the children taking turns counting the pieces of gum in the dish. In the scene, the character Nada (played by Roddy Piper) says “I’m here to chew bubblegum and kick ass… and I’m all out of bubblegum.” This line has become popular culture and is often referenced in other works. This is an iconic scene from the movie They Live (1988). This 80sTeescom exclusive I Have Come Here To Chew Bubblegum And Kick Ass They Live t-shirt is a must have for any fan of John Carpenter’s 1988 classic starring “Rowdy” Roddy Piper! Who said I came here to kickass and chew bubblegum? “Kick ass and chew bubble gum” is an expression that means to be badass and chew gum at the same time. I left the live audience at that point, because I figured the crisis was averted but I still had the low disk space problem. I always run my uncompressed audio files (.aiff) through The Levelator anyway – it’s a free tool from The Conversations Network that does really good audio normalization. The error said I could shut off the auto-normalizing and when I did that it exported perfectly. What the heck was going on I asked in my panicked state! Last time I’d checked, I had around 25GB free. I checked available space on speedy and somehow my available space out of the 60GB had shrunk to around 4GB. That ought to be enough, right? At this point I started figuring that GarageBand must store some sort of temp file on speedy. So I checked my Hard drive, and I had about 350GB free. I have my OS and apps on the SSD, with all the data (like giant recording files) on the HDD. What the heck? In case you missed it, I have a 750GB spinning hard drive (named fatso), AND a 60GB SSD (named speedy) in my MacBook Pro. I still had the live audience with me, and they saw me cringe when GarageBand said I didn’t have enough disk space to let the automatic normalization be performed on export. Fingers and toes crossed on this! Disappearing Disk SpaceĪt the end of last week’s live show, when I’d finished all the recording bits, I told GarageBand to export the uncompressed file. This has been a great solution, and as long as I can keep the Mac and the iPhone next to each other on stage, it should work. He was able to pair it just fine, but I had a lot of trouble with that, so we decided since we needed to get the sound from both the iPhone and the Mac into both mics, we’d just use the included audio cable. It works over Bluetooth, and Steve has been loving using it with his iPhone. It’s about 6 inches long and gives amazing sound – up to 85db which they say is more than a motorcycle. The Jambox is a very small wireless speaker. We noodled it for a bit and then realized we could use his new Jambone Jambox. The problem with the iPhone is that it’s very very quiet, AND when held naturally in my hands it’s at 90 degrees from the input for the microphones. We’ll set that right beside the room audio mic. Steve will be using his remote mic rig where he has a receiver plugged into the hot shoe of his camcorder, and I have a remote mic hooked to a transmitter that I’ll keep with me on stage. One tricky bit was how to get the audio from the iPhone into the microphone for the recording and for the room audio. We’ve worked on audio to make sure you’ll be able to hear everything and see the demonstration. A lot of people have asked if it’s going to be recorded, and I assure you Steve will be recording the whole thing. Now I’m excited and really looking forward to it. I guess I’m glad they didn’t tell me how hard it was before I started or I’d never have tried it. One funny thing has come out of this – the same guys who were all full of encouragement and words like, “it’s EASY, Allison…” are now coming out saying things like, “you are so brave”. It was such an exhilarating feeling when suddenly I was able to actually experiment and explore with my eyes closed, rather than being filled with dread whenever I practiced my rudimentary script. Two weeks ago I was fearful that I’d never get the hang of it, but then my blind friends came to my rescue and helped me get over the hump. This has been a fascinating journey filled with equal doses of hope and disappointment. If you’re coming to the show, I sure hope you can come see it and cheer me on, it’s at 11am on Thursday.
